Hello & Introductions

With any new adventure, the best place to begin is with a smile, a hello, and a few introductions.

My name is Alicia, and this year I celebrate my 40th lap around the sun. I’ve been married to Luke (42) for almost 18 years, and together we have two wonderful boys, Ethan (16) and Nate (10).

We currently live in Queensland, Australia, a place known for its long, hot summers and endless sunshine. Luke and I were both born and raised here, yet despite that, we have never quite shared the love many people have for the heat, beaches and outdoor lifestyle. Perhaps if you were to meet me, pale complexion and all, you would understand that I am simply not built for it. While many thrive in the warmth, I have often found it limiting, retreating indoors and quietly longing for cooler days that invite exploration rather than escape.

Life at this stage is full. Luke and I both work full time, and most afternoons and evenings are spent ferrying the boys between volleyball, tennis, football and other commitments. Weekends are rarely slow. They are filled with matches, volunteering with our local Lions Club and through my work, and the usual tasks that keep family life moving.

We are grateful for the life we have built, but the pace can be relentless. There is little space for stillness, or even for us as a family to simply be together without an agenda.

Family sits at the centre of everything for us. We have both grown up surrounded by extended family, with cousins, grandparents and even great-grandparents woven into the rhythm of our weekends. The thought of moving across the world, away from that closeness, is not something we take lightly.

So why Norway?

That is a story for another post. After all, the journey deserves its own unfolding.

Med kjærlighet og vennlighet (with love and kindness),

Alicia
